Ashley Rhys; MS, LMFT, EMDR-C is a Belizean American, who obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Valdosta State University in 2011 and her Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2013. Ashley is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. Ashley has a passion for working with individuals that have been affected by trauma and is currently a Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist.
Ashley has worked for numerous agencies and practices in Valdosta, Ga which has given her 12 years experience working with individuals and families at Peaceway Counseling & Mediation Services providing home-based therapy services for adults, children/adolescents, parents and children, along with facilitating group therapy. Spearheading Summer Enrichment Programs which assisted with keeping local teens off the streets of the Valdosta, Ga area.
Ashley’s therapeutic services focus on a more holistic approach that involves, mindfulness, breathwork, guided meditations, sound healing, somatic therapy practices, and movement.
In 2017, she became the Lead Adolescent Therapist at the Greenleaf Center Behavioral Health Hospital to a 20-bed adolescent unit for two years. In 2019, Ashley became the Haven’s Lead Therapist, which is Valdosta’s local Battered Women’s Shelter and Rape Crisis Center, where she provided individual, family, and group therapy to women, men, and children affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Ashley began Positive Mindset Counseling Services, LLC of Valdosta in 2020, where she provides individual, family, and group virtual therapy services to the entire state of Georgia.
Ashley’s therapeutic services focus on a more holistic approach that involves, mindfulness, breathwork, guided meditations, sound healing, somatic therapy practices, and movement.
Ashley now hosts live self-care events and retreats for Black Women to have a safe space to heal from traumas that can only be healed in the presence of Black Sisterhood. Retreats are hosted in Nachoochee, GA and Belize, Central America.
